About the event

Join us for another installment of our Hearth & Timber: Experiences of the past at Marble Springs! This month we are diving into the invaluable skill of mending and sewing. Bring an old project that needs fixing up or come empty handed ready to learn some beginner sewing skills.

The program will be held at our pavilion, beginning with a short talk to interpret the historic necessity of the skill of mending and trace it to a modern practicality. Discover how beginner sewing practices can be a useful skill even in the modern age.

After the lecture participants will have the opportunity to work on individual projects. The participants mending will work on their projects with help from an instructor. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MENDING PROJECT. Participants who are interested in beginner sewing will be instructed and guided to make small herb sachets.
